One Mill Reports
Your Vote Made a Big Difference
In August 2018, Orange County voters renewed a 1 mill property tax increase for four years to preserve academic programs, retain highly qualified teachers, protect arts, athletics, and student activities.
Thanks to your support, the students of Orange County are much better off than they would have been. You will see below that while regular state funding has increased slightly over the last three years, it still falls short when compared to inflation. However, thanks to the additional 1 mill, we have been able to maintain a high level of service.
Budgeted funding per student by year

The bar chart pictured above shows funding per student from July 2008 through July 2024. Funding sources include Regular State Funding, Temporary Funding, and Voter‑Approved 1 Mill. A line labeled “2008 Equivalent Purchasing Power” shows that although total funding rose over time, it did not keep pace with inflation without the voter‑approved mill.
Years shown: July 2008–2024. Total funding increased from approximately $6,988.29 to $10,093.31 per student.
