Your Vote Made a Big Difference

In August 2018, Orange County voters renewed a 1 mill property tax increase for four years to preserve academic programs, retain highly qualified teachers, protect arts, athletics, and student activities.

Thanks to your support, the students of Orange County are much better off than they would have been. You will see below that while regular state funding has increased slightly over the last three years, it still falls short when compared to inflation. However, thanks to the additional 1 mill, we have been able to maintain a high level of service.

A line labeled “2008 Equivalent Purchasing Power” shows that although total funding rose over time, it did not keep pace with inflation without the voter‑approved mill.
