    Providing opportunities for students to incorporate local and global issues through hands-on experiments and activities focused on real-world challenges and solutions, this program prepares students to engage actively in learning. The combined student service opportunities, academic rigor and STEM-centered activities, all cultivate and develop students for higher education and 21st Century careers.

    Participating students enter the program in kindergarten, with offers in all other grades as space permits.

    Aviation and Aerospace

    Sally Ride Elementary's Aviation and Aerospace magnet program provides an enhanced curriculum focusing on science with connections to the worlds of aviation and aerospace. Students will have the opportunity to learn science content through hands-on, minds-on experiments. These take place in a science lab and the regular classroom. For the applicable science units, teachers extend the concepts to include any aviation or aerospace links, creating a web of understanding between the state benchmarks and the magnet topic.

    Participating students enter the program in kindergarten, with offers in all other grades as space permits.

    The Orlando Gifted Academy provides opportunities for elementary gifted learners to reach their potential while pursuing interests and tapping into strengths. Students will work individually and collaboratively with fellow students while challenged to think creatively and use problem-solving strategies to develop real-world and applicable projects.

    Participating students may enter the program as rising second to eighth graders  using the School Choice application process and lottery.

    At the time of magnet application, your child must have been determined eligible for the gifted program through Orange County Public Schools.

    Hillcrest Elementary is a foreign language academy where students, parents, staff and the community work as a team to support a safe and positive multicultural learning environment. We address the whole child, foster academic excellence, develop responsible citizens, and inspire lifelong learning. The Foreign Language Academy was created to help students gain an increased knowledge of their relationship with the world by developing an appreciation for other perspectives and a deeper understanding of their own culture and the world at large. The established language enrichment programs are French and Spanish.

    Participating students may enter the program in kindergarten through fifth grade.

    Hunter's Creek Elementary School's Two-Way Dual Language Program model integrates language minority and language majority students in the same classroom with the goal of academic excellence and bilingual proficiency for both student groups. Students of both language groups are combined for all content instruction in an environment which promotes language and social equality while supporting full bilingual proficiency for both native and non-native speakers of English. Our Two-Way Dual Language Program strives to cultivate understanding and appreciation of other cultures, inspire self-esteem, and strengthen positive attitudes among students, their families, and the community. Careful attention is paid to the development of bilingualism, biliteracy, and academic attainment for all participants. Students are expected to achieve academically at or above grade level in all content areas in both languages.

    Participating students enter the program in kindergarten and there is limited consideration for other grades with language assessment.

    The STEM program at Orange Center Elementary provides a foundation for students who are interested in enhancing their knowledge and skills in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. The critical thinking skills cultivated in this program help to prepare students for higher education and 21st Century careers. The magnet program provides opportunities for hands-on experiments and activities focused on real world applications. Technology classes are focused on the integration of cross-curricular content using digital tools to solve problems and engineer innovative products.

    The STEAM Career Academy at Bay Meadows Elementary extends the learning opportunities and experiences beyond the standard curriculum by providing a comprehensive, cross-curricular exploration of STEAM careers. With a program focus on student-generated, project-based learning, and using theme-based resources, students experience the worlds of science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM). Students will participate in real-world, project-based activities that will bring STEAM concepts to life and develop 21st Century competencies, such as problem solving, critical thinking, and collaboration.

    Focusing on experiencing the arts across all content areas, this magnet enhances student learning while promoting the arts and arts integration. This magnet provides opportunities for students to experience the arts across all content areas while infusing technology to enhance students' learning. Students have opportunities to refine their skills, techniques, and processes in music, to incorporate two and three-dimensional concepts and ideas through the visual arts, and to acquire general knowledge of the elements, principles, and concepts surrounding dance education.
