Magnet Description

The International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP) is designed to help students develop the knowledge, understanding, attitudes, and skills necessary to participate actively and responsibly in a changing world. The MYP is internationally recognized and encourages students to embrace and understand the connections between traditional subjects and the real world, and become critical and reflective thinkers.

Using global contexts, MYP students develop an understanding of their common humanity and shared guardianship of the planet through developmentally appropriate explorations of:

  • Identities and relationships
  • Personal and cultural identity
  • Orientations in space and time
  • Scientific and technical innovations
  • Fairness and development
  • Globalization and sustainability

Participating students enter the program as sixth graders and a limited number may enter as seventh and eighth graders. Students throughout the Orange County School District may apply for this program.

Transportation is not provided for elementary magnets nor high school magnets. In accordance with district transportation policy, transportation is provided to the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme at the middle schools, but transportation is not provided to the other middle school magnets.
